NEW! SummerChor in San Rafael

SummerChor is a vocal ensemble for young women entering grades 5-12 who have a passion for singing among friends. This five-week intersession chorus will include songs from a variety of genres, including jazz, pop and musical theater. A series of community performances will take place throughout Marin County in late June and early July.

  • Current members of MGC will enjoy a lighter side of ensemble singing and a more relaxed rehearsal structure and attendance policy in comparison to our academic year instruction.

  • Non-members of MGC will enjoy making new friends, singing fun songs, and getting a sense of what it’s like to be part of the family at Marin Girls Chorus.

  • All are welcome! No previous experience required.

Singer’s Workshop in Mill Valley

The perfect summer choral program for older singers, the Singer’s Workshop is a week-long intensive day camp for the aspiring vocalist entering grades 5 and up. No experience is necessary to participate in this differentiated singing camp that will provide aspiring vocalists a chance to expand your range, teach you new and more advanced vocal techniques and repertoire, improve your musicianship skills, and most importantly – you'll gain more confidence as a singer. Join MGC Artistic Director Cole Thomason-Redus for a week of fun and vocal training. Students will also be given ample opportunities to get outside and enjoy movement. The week will conclude with a performance at 2:00pm on Friday.

What does a typical day of Singer's Workshop camp look like?

Each morning begins with a rigorous vocal and physical warm-up, designed to discover and increase the potential and power of your voice. We then divide into smaller skill-based groups for intensive study of solfege, sight-reading, musicianship, and the performance of classical art songs. Afternoons are more relaxed as we dive into the non-classical genres of folk, musical theater, and jazz, while also exploring career options in music that fall outside of the spotlight and stage.
