All new students are given an official Marin Girls Chorus T-shirt and black concert binder at the beginning of the semester.*  These are for the students to keep and care for responsibly for the duration of the season.  Returning students are given a new Chorus shirt when they move up to a new ensemble.  Students are expected to bring their binders, a pencil and an eraser to every class.

*Frescos are given folders, not binders.

casual concert attire

  • Fresco and Giocoso: Chorus T-shirt and clean pants or leggings, or as directed by chorus.

  • Arioso, Bel Canto, Chanton and Descant: Chorus shirt and clean jeans, or as directed by chorus.

General for all singers:
  • All singers must wear hair neatly styled back (braids, pony-tails, headbands, etc.) so hair will stay neat and off the face. Singers may be asked to restyle their hair if it is not off their face.
  • No jewelry is allowed at the Holiday or Spring Performance. Stud earrings are the only jewelry allowed.
  • No big bows or large hair decorations are permitted.
  • No hats, gloves, ear muffs, scarves or other accessories are allowed unless specifically permitted by the teacher and MGC as part of a costume.
We ask that families check each singer’s performance attire and make any necessary alterations and adjustments a week before dress rehearsals to ensure that singers have the freedom of movement and are able to rehearse in the fitted costume they will be wearing on the day of the performance. Properly-fitted attire during rehearsals allows the girls to focus on singing, choreography and the details of performing in a new space without fidgeting with their clothing. All performance attire should be neat and clean on the day of performances
