Descants Advanced Girls Choir

Auditions for Spring 2023 are by appointment from November 21 , 2022 - January 17, 2023. Please email cole@marinchorus.org to set up an audition.

The Descant level is our advanced ensemble and is available by audition to singers grades 4-12.  This is an advanced vocal ensemble for girls who are ready for a challenging and fast-paced choral experience.

WHO SHOULD AUDITION?

Girls in grades 4-12 who have substantial experience singing in vocal ensembles are encouraged to audition. Those who’ve never sung in a vocal ensemble, but have had multiple years of private lessons in voice or another musical instrument are also encouraged to audition. 


REQUIREMENTS:

• The ability to sing with a pure tone.
• The ability to blend with all voices of the ensemble.
• The ability to learn music quickly. (The ability to read music is strongly preferred but not required. Singers with excellent aural skills who can quickly learn their part from a practice track are encouraged to audition.)
• A passion for singing a wide variety of choral music with others who share a love of music.
• All members of The Descants must also enroll in their grade-level  ensemble at Marin Girls Chorus. (i.e. a 4th grader must also enroll in the Arioso Ensemble, a 6th grader must also enroll in the Bel Canto Ensemble, etc.)

Registration Information for the 2022-2023 Season


Class Day and Location:
Mondays 5:30- 7:00pm Mt Tam United Methodist Church, 410 Sycamore Drive, Mill Valley CA 94941

Tuition and other fees:

• Full year tuition: $600
• ​All members of The Descants must also enroll in their grade-level ensemble at Marin Girls Chorus. (i.e. a 4th grader must also enroll in the Arioso Ensemble, a 6th grader must also enroll in the Bel Canto Ensemble, etc.)
• Some events and concerts require tickets to be purchased to cover costs
• Separate participation fees are required for singers to attend the Spring retreat and Summer Tour
